AboutOh my gosh I made a manip! Haha first since 2013. I am graduating with a BFA degree in a week and it felt fitting to revisit the medium that made me fall in love with art in the first place.
Some notes:
Not only is this about my nostalgia, but also a nostalgia for the old manip styles. It came to my attention about 6 months or so ago, that there was a HUGE trend in horse photomanipulation to use lens blur to blur almost everything except the immediate area surrounding the horse. Now, don't get me wrong, this was around when I maniped back in the haze of 2013, and I used it sometimes, but it seemed to me that it has became even more prominent when I searched 6 months ago. I can't speak whether that is still the case, because i haven't searched for a while, but yeah, I just wanted to revisit the 'old style' with no background blur/lens flare and instead rely completely on values and composition to lead the eye where I want it to go...hope I was successful P: I also just did a 'plain ol' horse' no magic, no funky colors, no horns, which I also feel is very nostalgic xD
For this piece I just went through most recent uploads on stock images, I didn't even filter! I wanted it to be spontaneous and when I saw this gorgeous horse, I knew I found my subject.
